CatalunyaCaixa's server has been certified by the Verisign certification auhority, wich guarantees that when the customer clicks [enter] they are really connecting to CatalunyaCaixa, transmitting user codes and passwords using a 128 bit encoded SSL protocol.

  • You should NEVER disclose your username, password or your card coordinates to anyone, even if they say they are from CatalunyaCaixa. Wary of unexpected emails or pop-ups that ask you private data.

  • CatalunyaCaixa server has been certified by the authority Verisign, which guarantees the customer to make that click < Enter > to really connect to CatalunyaCaixa and transmits the code of usuario and password both by the SSL protocol with 128-bit Keys.

Shopping online with cards

CatalunyaCaixa is a member of the Visa and MasterCard secure payment systems (Verified by Visa and MasterCard Secure Code). When you use a card to make an internet purchase from an establishment that is a member of these systems, you will be asked for a code from your coordinates card.

You can identify these establishments by the logos shown here.

Plus, if IT systems detect potentially irregular or fraudulent transactions, you will be phoned by the relevant department.

What can you do to minimise these risks? Here are some basic security rules.

  • Regularly change the keylock code.
  • Enable and set the automatic keylock.
  • Be careful with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections: you should be asked for permission whenever you connect.
  • Make sure that messages and downloaded applications are from known sources.
  • Install an antivirus: look for the one that best suits your needs depending on how you want to use it.
  • Check the source and content of your memory card before inserting it into your mobile.
  • Make regular backups.
  • If you lose your phone or it’s stolen, promptly contact your carrier to block it.
